30 Ukrainian communities can get assistance and expert consultations in the process of inclusive recovery in the scope of implementing the project of the Centre of Inclusion Expertise. This was announced by the Executive Director of the Public Association «The League of the Strong» Daria Sydorenko.
«We are looking for 30 communities that are ready to implement standards of accessibility and inclusiveness in the reconstruction process. The project involves the participation of communities from the regions most affected by the destruction of critical and social infrastructure and the consequences of direct occupation. You can fill out an application form for participation in the project until September 15,” said Daria Sydorenko, the Executive Director of the Public Association “League of the Strong”.
Each community will receive assistance and expert advice in the following areas:
- conducting analysis of inclusiveness and accessibility in the community (availability of normative legal acts and the level of accessibility in the community), the procedure of early involvement of people with disabilities in the formation of strategic directions (via consultations);
- provision of recommendations for recovery Strategies and Programmes;
- analysis of project documentation for reconstruction;
- educational training on inclusive reconstruction.
To apply for participation in the project, it is necessary to fill in the form following the link https://forms.gle/d738uUFG4NdhESpp6. The priority for participation is given to territorial communities in 9 regions: Kherson, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odessa and Mykolaiv regions. Deadline for application submission – 15 September, 2023.
As it has been reported earlier, in July in Kyiv the Centre for Inclusion Expertise has become operational. Activity of the Centre is aimed at including the interests of persons with disability into the programmes of recovery in Ukraine. The services of the Centre involve expert consultations for stakeholders of the recovery processes, advocacy of the issues of inclusion of the standards of the Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to the Plan of Recovery of Ukraine. In August, the experts of the Centre has started collaboration with Kyiv Reginal Military Administration and provided the recommendations on increasing the level of compliance of the public objects with the accessibility and inclusivity norms.
The Project “The Centre of Inclusion Expertise” has been founded by the Public Association “The League of the Strong” thanks to the grant from the Programme «Support to civil society organisations in Ukraine (CSO)» in Ukraine within the financial support of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office of the United Kingdom. The programme is realised by Crown Agents in partnership with International Alert as well as in collaboration with Crown Agents in Ukraine.
