The public association “The League of the Strong” has the goal of creating systemic changes for people with disabilities. However, we cannot ignore the complex challenges faced by individuals with disabilities due to the full-scale invasion. For this reason, we have launched a project, with the support of the Catalan Cooperation Fund for Development, aimed at improving the living conditions of people with disabilities and their families who have been affected by the war in Ukraine.
The project consists of 4 important directions:
- Support for Ukrainian military personnel who have been injured in war and have lost their hearing. Together with the non-governmental organization “Vidchuy,” we provided assistance with the purchase of hearing aids.
- Support for families raising children with complex developmental disorders. In this direction, we have worked together with the public organization “Bachyty sercem”.
- Support for people with spinal cord injuries. Together with the public organization “Active Rehabilitation Group”, we have purchased uninterruptible power supply kits for them.
- Arrangement of the Center for social rehabilitation and Socio-labor adaptation of persons with disabilities in Kyiv. This is a collaborative effort between our organization and the non-governmental organization “Rodyna”.
Our cooperation is taking place in three main directions:
Strengthening community organizations to assist people with disabilities who have been affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Advocating for the interests of people with disabilities and monitoring the observance of their rights during their residence.
Increasing the organizational capacity of community members and “The League of the Strong” as an alliance for sustainable development.
