The Transport Service for Wheelchair Users has been successfully operating in Vinnytsia for 15 years. The majority of Vinnytsia residents with disabilities are aware of it, but since the beginning of the full-scale war, there have arrived a lot of displaced people in the city who suffer from muscle-skeleton disorders and need such a help too.
The “Harmony” organization, which is a member of “The League of the Strong”, develops this service in the community. Thanks to the support of the “Harmony” association, it was possible to improve the work of the Transport Service and cover transport expenditures.
“The Transport Service provides free services for people with disabilities of I and II groups, who have muscle-skeleton disorders, i.e. move around by using a wheelchair or other accessory means and live within the Vinnytsia territorial community. Three drivers work on the routes”, – the representatives of the “Harmony” NGO tell us.
One of the drivers is Serhii Kulenko. The man says that the work is not difficult. The buses are in good order. Each is equipped with a special lifter and has special adjustments with the help of which a wheelchair is fixed. One bus can transport six passengers simultaneously. In total, the Service responds to up to fifty calls a day.
The Transport Service works seamlessly and is funded by the municipal budget as well as charity aid and partner organizations.
