Daria Sydorenko, Executive Director of the League of the Strong, joined the Barrier-Free Council

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made changes to the composition of the Barrier-Free Council. Daria Sydorenko, Executive Director of the League of the Strong, has joined the new composition. The relevant order was published on the Cabinet of Ministers’ website.

“The mission of our organization is to be a loud voice of people with disabilities in making important decisions. Participation in the Barrier-Free Council will be another tool to achieve it. There are three main tasks on the agenda: active involvement of civil society organizations in the implementation of the Barrier-Free Strategy, communication of the processes of implementing the Action Plan of the National Strategy for 2023-2024, and conducting our own monitoring of the Action Plan,” said Daria Sydorenko, Executive Director of the League of the Strong.

According to the Regulation, the Barrier-Free Council is a temporary advisory body of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine established to create a barrier-free space.

The main tasks of the Council are to facilitate coordination of actions of executive authorities on the creation of barrier-free space, prepare proposals for the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of creating barrier-free space, identify ways, mechanisms and means of solving problematic issues arising in the implementation of state policy in creating barrier-free space, prepare proposals for improving the regulatory framework and increasing the efficiency of central and local authorities.

As a reminder, the League of the Strong is a public union that was formed at the end of 2021. The main task is to unite public organizations and activate people with disabilities to participate in the realization of their rights. Since the full-scale invasion, one of the focuses of the organization’s work has been to help people with disabilities. Currently, the League of the Strong community includes 50 organizations.
