«This project aims to improve living conditions for people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations. We will directly help people by providing humanitarian assistance. Additionally, we will train 590 primary healthcare workers on mental health and psychosocial support. By the end of 2023, we will provide assistance to residents of 14 communities», explained Daria Sydorenko.
Assistance will be provided to people with disabilities, war veterans, internally displaced persons with injuries, and other vulnerable groups. The project will continue until the end of 2024 and will directly benefit more than 9,000 people in 29 communities across three regions of Ukraine: Ternopil (9 communities), Ivano-Frankivsk (7 communities), and Cherkasy (13 communities) regions.
The project consists of three main components: training for medical workers, advocacy, and direct assistance to individuals. The assistance provided includes financial support, provision of specialized tools to aid with disabilities, and arranging transportation to medical facilities.
Currently, the team «The League of the Strong» has identified the needs in target communities and has begun providing assistance. The first events in the regions will take place next week. It is also expected that by the end of the year, 700 people with disabilities will receive transportation services to medical facilities.
