Experts from the public organization «The League of the Strong» have joined the working group for the preparation of the targeted program «Barrier-Free Mykolaiv». This was announced by Daria Sydorenko, the executive director of «The League of the Strong».
«Experts from our Centre of Inclusion Expertise are working together with local self-government authorities. The key task is to create a truly barrier-free environment, rather than a declarative one», emphasized Daria Sydorenko.
The working group will develop the city’s program «Barrier-Free Mykolaiv» for 2024-2026, with the help of lawyers and experts from the «League of the Strong». The program aims to make Mykolaiv accessible in various ways, including physically, digitally, socially, economically, and educationally. The program will specify the costs, actions, and departments responsible for implementing it.
In September 2023, experts from the Centre of Inclusion Expertise, together with experts from the Agency for Regional Development of the Odessa region, started working on updating the Development Strategy of the region. In October 2023, representatives from 30 communities in 9 regions of Ukraine began working with the Centre of Inclusion Expertise.
The Center’s activities are focused on including the interests of people with disabilities into Ukraine’s recovery programs. The services provided by the Center include expert consultations for stakeholders involved in the recovery processes and advocacy for the inclusion of the standards of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine’s Recovery Plan.
The project «Centre of Inclusion Expertise» was created by «The League of the Strong» through a grant received from the «Support to Civil Society Organizations Program» in Ukraine, with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Development of the United Kingdom. The program is implemented by Crown Agents in partnership with International Alert and in cooperation with Crown Agents in Ukraine.
