Fight For Right is withdrawing from “The League of the Strong” public union, but the cooperation between the two organizations to protect the rights of people with disabilities continues. Fight For Right announced its decision on February 14. The leadership of both organizations successfully discussed and agreed on future formats of cooperation on partnership terms. This was reported by Uliana Pcholkina, chairman of the board of “The League of the Strong” public union.

“Unfortunately, a joint decision was made to end the cooperation. And it was a very difficult one. We are extremely grateful and appreciate the work that Fight For Right and Yulia Sachuk do in the field of protecting the rights of people with disabilities. It is a shame that we will now move forward separately. However, as a democratic organization, we respect the right to other views, other visions, and other vectors of movement. “The League of the Strong, as a public union, plans to continue cooperation with Fight For Right, but in a different format,” said Uliana Pcholkina, chairman of the board of  The League of the Strong public union.

We remind you that in March last year , Fight For Right became a full member of the League of the Strong public union. Fight For Right focuses on the fight for the observance of the rights of people with disabilities in Ukraine, evacuation of people with disabilities and protection during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, and strengthening the community. The organization advocates a human rights-based approach to ensuring the rights of people with disabilities. The organization is headed by Yulia Sachuk, a human rights activist and expert on the rights of people with disabilities.

The League of the Strong works as a public union, where all important decisions are made with the consent of the full members. This requires great efficiency, inclusion and a common vision of important social transformations. We work at an extremely intense pace, just like Fight for Right, so the format of full membership in the union has not been very productive for interaction. But I hope that in a different format our cooperation can be more effective. Because creating changes for people with disabilities at the national level is not an easy task. The more organizations work in this vector efficiently and effectively, the faster we will get the desired changes,” said Daria Sydorenko, Executive Director of The League of the Strong NGO.

As a reminder, the League of the Strong is a public union that was formed at the end of 2021. The main task is to unite public organizations and activate people with disabilities to participate in the realization of their rights. Since the full-scale invasion, one of the focuses of the organization’s work has been to help people with disabilities. Currently, the League of the Strong community includes 93 NGOs and associations from all regions of the country.
