“The League of the Strong” public union invites regional media journalists to explore the problems of interaction between people with disabilities and medical and social expert commissions. The competition will be held within the framework of the MСEC Reform project. This was announced by Daria Sydorenko, executive director of “The League of the Strong” public union.
“We have repeatedly emphasized that the work of medical and social expert commissions needs to be reformed. With this competition, we aim to draw attention to the problem of interaction between people who have or seek to register a disability and the MSEC at the local level. We invite local and regional media to showcase the problems and real-life experiences of Ukrainians who receive services in this institution. All published materials will be useful in the analytical work we are constantly doing to find ways to overcome existing barriers,” said Daria Sydorenko, executive director of The League of the Strong NGO.
It is expected that 12 materials will be written as part of the competition. The scholarship for the production of one material is UAH 5 thousand. Journalists are encouraged to reveal the experience of those who cannot get a disability due to bureaucratic procedures. Or tell the story of those who have to prove that their health condition has not changed from year to year. Journalists can also visit the MSEC premises with the heroes and check them for accessibility.

After the deadline for submitting applications, the contest committee will determine the potential materials to be supported. Journalists have 2 weeks to realize their ideas.
