Over the past 9 months, the project “Unite and Help in Time of War” has helped more than 7.3 thousand Ukrainians with disabilities. It is being implemented by “The League of the Strong” NGO with the support of the European Disabilities Forum (EDF). In particular, 11 partner organizations provide assistance and services to people with disabilities, said Daria Sydorenko, executive director of the League of the Strong NGO.
“Our project is about supporting people with disabilities in the most necessary things: counseling, food, implants. These are the needs that have become even more acute with the war. People are most in need of counseling and legal support, as well as day care and support. We continue to work and help,” – said Daria Sydorenko, executive director of “The League of the Strong” public union.
During the second phase of the project, which began in July 2024, the League of the Strong has helped more than 7,300 Ukrainians with disabilities. Most people needed counseling services. They were provided to 3335 people. Day care, support and training programs were provided to 2884 people. Food and hygiene kits, as well as components for cochlear implants, were provided to 1141 people with disabilities.
The international project “Unite and Help in Time of War” was launched in Ukraine in 2022 with the support of a European partner, the European Disabilities Forum. The project is being implemented by the League of the Strong NGO in partnership with 11 organizations. The project provides assistance to people with disabilities affected by the full-scale invasion. Over 2 years of work, almost 30 thousand Ukrainians and people with disabilities have received assistance.
“The League of the Strong is a public union that was formed at the end of 2021. The main task is to unite public organizations and activate people with disabilities to participate in the realization of their rights. Since the full-scale invasion, one of the focuses of the organization’s work has been to help people with disabilities. Currently, the League of the Strong community includes 100 organizations.
