“The League of the Strong” civic association continues to implement the “SAFE: Help and Support for All” project in the Stryi, Myrhorod, and Trostyanets communities. The project combines direct financial assistance for people with disabilities, the development of support services, and the creation of a more accessible environment in the communities.
“Our projects are not just about providing immediate assistance to people facing difficult life circumstances. We are working to ensure that communities have sustainable solutions that help people with disabilities become more independent, access necessary services, and enjoy a barrier-free environment. That is why the project combines financial assistance, infrastructure improvements, and the development of support services,” commented Daria Kukurika, Executive Director of “The League of the Strong”.
One of the project’s key areas of focus is providing financial assistance to people and children with disabilities. So far, 225 people in three communities have received payments: 84 in Stryi, 77 in Trostyanets, and 64 in Myrhorod. In total, the project is expected to assist at least 200 people, with each financial certificate worth up to 10,000 hryvnias.
In addition to financial assistance, “The League of the Strong” and its partner organizations are working to improve the accessibility of social infrastructure. In Myrhorod, renovation work is already in its final stages—they plan to complete and accept the work by the end of August. In Stryi, work has already begun, and in Trostyanets, it will start soon.
Another focus of the project is the development of support services for people with disabilities and their families. Partner organizations “Family for People with Disabilities” and “Workshop of Dreams” are strengthening the work of day care and supported living centers, providing psychosocial support, and conducting educational and socialization activities for children and youth with disabilities. Additionally, as part of the project, people receive support in developing skills for independent living and employment, while families receive the necessary assistance.
An important component of the project is raising awareness of the rights of people with disabilities and drawing attention to their needs and capabilities. So far, three articles have been published in the regional media in each of the three regions. Another article was published on Hromadske.
The “SAFE: Help and Support for Everyone” project is being implemented by “The League of the Strong” in collaboration with the organizations for people with disabilities “Family for People with Disabilities” and “Workshop of Dreams.” The project will run until November 14, 2026.
We provide these services as part of the “SAFE: Help and Support for Everyone” project. This project is implemented by “The League of the Strong” with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office and coordinated by Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe and the Help Localization Program.
