“The League of the Strong” announces the opening of applications for financial assistance for people and children with disabilities living in the communities of Stryi (Lviv Oblast), Myrhorod (Poltava Oblast), and Trostyanets (Sumy Oblast).
As part of the project, cash vouchers will be provided as a form of direct financial support. In total, at least 200 people in three communities will receive assistance, and the total budget exceeds 2.2 million hryvnias. The number of recipients in the Stryi community is determined based on official statistics and may be increased if funds are saved.
A single cash certificate can be worth up to 10,000 UAH. The funds can be used to cover any of your essential needs. The distribution of certificates will begin no earlier than the end of May.
“According to our research, only 68% of people with disabilities in Ukraine have sufficient funds to cover basic needs, such as food and clothing. This highlights the profound financial vulnerability of people with disabilities. The main focus of the “League of the Strong” is systemic change and advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities; however, during the full-scale invasion, we began implementing direct aid projects. Reducing the vulnerability of people with disabilities is the first step toward systemic changes in the protection of basic human rights. And this is exactly what SAFE is working on,” commented Daria Kukurika, Executive Director of the “League of the Strong.”

Just a reminder the “SAFE” project is being implemented by the “League of the Strong” public association in collaboration with the organizations for people with disabilities “Family for People with Disabilities” and “Workshop of Dreams.” The project encompasses several areas: providing cash vouchers for people with disabilities, implementing barrier-free solutions and improving the accessibility of social infrastructure facilities in communities, as well as developing support services.
In particular, partner organizations are working to strengthen the operations of day care and supported living centers, provide psychosocial support, conduct educational and socialization activities for children and youth with disabilities, support families, and promote the development of skills for independent living and employment.
The project will run through November 14, 2026.
