People with disabilities in Chernihiv region can receive assistive devices and legal advice

“League of the Strong” will provide free tools and consultations to people with disabilities from the Chernihiv, Pryluky, and Nizhyn communities. When filling out the vocation form below, you can indicate the need for multiple tools at once.

The project aims to provide a rapid and inclusive response, improve living conditions, access to social protection services, remove physical and regulatory barriers, and strengthen their autonomy and active participation in community life.

The Chernihiv region was one of the first to experience a full-scale invasion and remains very vulnerable. Approximately 9,200 civilian buildings have been damaged or destroyed.

“The League of the Strong is, first and foremost, an organization that advocates for systemic changes: it works to update legislation and regulations so that the rights of people with disabilities are guaranteed not in words but in practice. But the realities of war require us to act quickly and support where the need is greatest — and Chernihiv Oblast is just such a region. This is not the first time we have been working here: we have already provided legal advice and helped people overcome barriers that prevent them from receiving social protection and services. As part of this project, we are strengthening support for residents and displaced persons of the Chernihiv, Pryluky, and Nizhyn communities, as well as veterans — we provide assistive devices and legal assistance so that people can restore mobility, autonomy, and active participation in community life,” notes Darya Kukurika, executive director of the League of the Strong.

What the project involves:

  • About 255 people will receive assistive devices
  • 40 people with disabilities will receive legal advice
  • over 1,500 people will be reached by an information campaign on rights and social protection mechanisms

What you can get:

  • Assistive devices — wheelchairs, hearing aids, crutches, self-care and care devices, orientation, communication and information exchange devices, as well as other necessary rehabilitation aids;
  • Legal advice — on social security, document processing, benefits and payments.

Assistance can be received by people with disabilities who live in the Chernihiv, Pryluky and Nizhyn communities permanently, as well as those who moved there due to a full-scale invasion, as well as veterans.
