Over the past seven months, the League of the Strong NGO has organized 4,325 transportations for people with disabilities to medical facilities in the Cherkasy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil regions. This initiative is supported by the Empower Ukraine. Disability rights international project. The announcement was made by David Davtian, Project Manager of the League of the Strong.
“Within the Empower Ukraine. Disability rights project, we ensure people with disabilities have access to essential medical care. Unfortunately, public transportation remains inaccessible to many people with disabilities in numerous regions. This poses significant transportation challenges, particularly for residents of rural areas and city outskirts. Therefore, transportation services are crucial for enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities,” stressed David Davtian, Project Manager of the League of the Strong.
Beneficiaries of the transportation assistance include individuals with disabilities requiring hemodialysis, rehabilitation, routine check-ups, or treatment. Patients are transported from their communities to regional hospitals and urban medical centers. Transportation is available for both individual patients and groups.
The Empower Ukraine. Disability rights project is implemented in 29 communities across the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Cherkasy regions. These include Ivano-Frankivsk, Bohorodchany, Kalush, Kolomyia, Lysets, Starobohorodchany, and Tysmenytsia territorial communities in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
In the Ternopil region, people with disabilities benefit from support in the Ternopil, Borsukiv, Velyki Dederkaly, Vyshnivtsi, Zbarazh, Kremenets, Lanivtsi, Pochaiv, and Shumsk territorial communities.
In the Cherkasy region, the project is implemented within the Cherkasy, Balakleia, Biloziria, Bobrytsia, Vatutine, Voznesenske, Zolotonosha, Kaniv, Lesky, Monastyryshche, Nova Dmytrivka, Stepanky, and Talne territorial communities.
